The layout, appliance and ventilation decisions that make Florida outdoor kitchens actually get used year-round.
The outdoor kitchens that get used every week are the ones designed around how the family actually entertains — not around a photo on a website.
Start with the work triangle. Grill, prep surface and sink should be within a few steps of each other, with at least 24 inches of landing space on both sides of the grill. Bar seating goes on the guest side, never across the cooking zone.
Choose appliances rated for coastal exposure. In Sarasota and on the keys, salt air will destroy standard stainless quickly; 304-grade stainless is the minimum, and 316 is worth it near the water.
If your kitchen tucks under a roof or lanai, ventilation is not optional. A properly sized vent hood with make-up air keeps grease and heat out of the ceiling and protects the structure.
Finally, plan utilities early. Gas, water, drainage and dedicated circuits are far cheaper to run before the pavers go down than after.
